Allama Tahir ul Qadri spent millions of rupees on his recent Lahore rally and Long March.He said he could finance hundreds of such ventures. He may be right. Owners and managers of madrassas and religious organizations have become millionaires because of their businesses and hefty donations from inside and outside the country. The religious elite are no more represented by the likes of Maulana Maududi or Mufti Mahmood who had modest means of income. Now the religious establishments are like corporations and intervene in politics like the corporate sector.
