Last January 14th, 2007 marked a hallmark event in the greater Pukhtoon community with a concert from the legendary Khyal Muhammad.  The concert was organized by the combined effort of Mr. Anwar Hakam. Ms. Neelam Farooq and APPNE member Dr. Jamila Khalil.  It was attended by close to 200 people from all over New England, New York and Washington D.C.  Khyal Muhammad's every song was received by wild enthusiasm and overwhelming nostalgia.  He has achieved the status of a legend amongst Pukhtoons and has been decorated with the coveted laurel of the Pride of Performance by the government of Pakistan, as well as, countless other national awards.  His music is revered in Pakistan and Afghanistan for its traditional style and lyrics.  His concert was the 1st Pukhtoon concert in New England.  It is the hope of the community that more organized functions will follow with the formation or the New England Pukhtoon Association.WWW.NEPUKHTOON.COMJOIN US ON FACEBOOK "NEW ENGLAND PUKHTOON ASSOCIATION
